First cat meat and now donkey.

Donkey meat being served’
KUWAIT CITY, June 24: Demands for tightening monitoring on the distribution of meat in the local market have intensified amid reports that a certain restaurant is serving donkey meat, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Stressing the need to protect public health, sources said many people have expressed concern considering the holy month of Ramadan is fast approaching. They called on the concerned authorities to punish those behind the distribution of donkey meat in the local market. They also appealed to the Kuwait Municipality and Ministry of Commerce and Industry to closely supervise the restaurants to ensure public safety.

Want to adopt a sandwich meat?  Adopt a donkey.

Aside from the gross factor, is it actually harmful to eat donkey’s meat??

Je ne sais pas. Horse is eaten in the States. I don't know if donkey is harmful. People eat some weird sh&t, so who knows. I guess they are concerned about the labeling. If you are going to eat donkey, label it as such.

Maybe I'm a blind believer, but I love the USDA. I do honestly feel our stateside foods are monitored closely and rarely are we exposed to unsanity, unhealthy, mislabled foods. Then I watch one of those 'Caught in the Act' shows where the restaurant manager is urinating in food and I get a bit disheartened... I quickly overcome.

As I know donkey,s meet is not forbidden in Islam, bu not recommended, but I think it is a fraud To write in the label beef for example, but actually it is donkey’s meet. Being in the subject, I read about a week ago in the net that the municipality didn’t catch any cases of that kind.

DG, I am from the South and I have eaten, alligator, raccoon, goat, snakes, lizards, all types of fish, deer, bear, and other native animals in my area but never donkey or horse. I am sure folks do eat them but I don't know any of them nor have I asked folks but I will now.

I've eaten horse, and I'm assuming donkey is probably similar. Seems to me it should be tougher or something, but that's just me. We get all freaked out about eating donkeys when more than the entire population of the US eats dog and cat. Gross, but who's pointing fingers. Meat is meat... unless you're a vegetarian.
