‘Obey husband’ - Go home, woman told
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 1: The Appeals Court upheld a ruling by a lower court that ordered a Kuwaiti woman to return to her matrimonial home, after leaving the husband without any legal backing or justification. The court asked the woman to be submissive to the husband.
Case files indicate that the woman left her matrimonial home on 30/08/2010 without having any conflict or problems with the husband. Representing the spouse, lawyer Faisal Al-Otaibi said the wife ignored all entreaties by the husband to return home, which he said is lack of respect to the bond of love between them.
--- Sounds more like a bond of servitude to me.

reminds me of an American girl married to a Kuwaiti I used to know here, he had her convinced that if she stepped out of the house without his permission she would automatically be arrested and lashed. He did it so when he would beat her ,severely, she wouldn't go to the hospital. Fortunately they are divorced now.

Gail - OMG. I used to hear these stories back in the day before women either HAD a choice or felt that they had none.
I think that the Kuwaiti woman in the story can still file for divorce and then leave the house, but reading between the lines, it seems like there is more to the story than is being published.
Of course there is.
Once again this is propaganda!
I know for a fact that the Sunni court easily divorces woman and the judge doesn't even need to hear the husband out.
If this story is true then it must have happened in the Shiite court.
If you ever think of getting married to a Muslim in Kuwait you must carefully chose your court.
Sunni's court advantages are easy divorce and child's custody is always given to the mother.
Shiite's court advantage is if you don't have a son your daughters won't have to share their heritage with their uncles.
I know... Tricky!
