It didn't look like he made it. God rest his soul.
Of course, the traffic was backed up for miles in both directions. Of course, Kuwaiti style, vehicles (including Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defense) were driving up the emergency lane and then trying to squeeze in between cars to get back in. WTF people. Then, of course, there were people like me, slowing down to click snaps....
I hate driving here. I'm always scared for my own life. They must have a school that teaches this stuff coz otherwise how would this have happened:

It's just a picture I promise.
erFor four years that i attended uni there was not one day that i didn't see accidents going to uni (more or less). At one point i had to go through three accidents only a few meters away... life in kuwait is like that i guess =s
ReplyDeleteYou need to understand that this unfortunate expat driving the truck could've been distracted by a crazy local swerving infront of him which is the usual case everywhere in this country.
ReplyDeleteIt seems every guy thinks your manliness is measured by how crazy you drive. So sad
I fear for my life every time I drive to and from work. At least one or two crazy drivers almost hits me. This morning a Kuwaiti military guy was driving on the wrong side of the road so he could cut across the highway instead of driving one block away to make a u-turn. I looked up and saw him and my heart leaped from my chest. Then I went Ghetto. LOL
ReplyDeleteI tend to think they grow up playing Xbox 360 or playstation.... then one day daddy hands them the keys as they have learned to drive off the xbox...
ReplyDeleteI actually drove by this today also DG... very sad.
This truck actually toppled over onto the other highway and flipped onto a car. No one died. There was a fire in the truck and the driver got burned , the driver of the car had minor injuries. BUT BUT BUT here minor injuries can be a leg amputated so who knows?

AT Anonymous 4:04: Or that he could have put some air in his tires! The trucks and buses here, driven by sub-continent workers is a HUGE problem on the road. The vehicles have black smoke coming out of the back, they drive WAY too fast for a large vehicle, sometimes the air is so low in their tires that the large truck is actually driving lopsided and finally A STRONGLY suspect that they have not had special driving training to drive a heavy vehicle. THEY NEED TO BE TRAINED and policeman should be out on the roads giving them tickets, but hey, that is why they love driving here because there are no rules and it's just like back home.
