The Romanian was transferred to Al-Sabah Cardiology Hospital today to have an angioplasty in the morning. She said that her view from her hospital room during the day is gorgeous - overlooking Kuwait Bay with flamingos flying by.
I'll know more tomorrow after her surgery. She's been really happy with the treatment she's received so far and says that her doctor is one of the best cardiologists in Kuwait. Inshallah, her operation will go well.
I had a stent put in last year in the USA and quality of healthcare is depends on your location here too.
ReplyDeleteFYI..Smokers have a harder time than folks that just need to change their diet. Per my cardiologist. She will be fine and I just pray she stops smoking.
A few years ago I worked with a man who had a heart attack and was rushed to Adan hospital, stabilized, then moved to the Al-Sabah Cardiology Hospital for surgery and follow-up care. He was there for a few weeks (far longer than American insurance would allow someone to stay in a hospital). He said it was like being in a hotel more than a hospital. He too loved the view, loved the care, and was also told to stop smoking! He said the food was great, the Doctors were professional, and the staff were incredibly attentive.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your friend and I do hope she recovers soon. But it does sound like she's in good hands. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to make this time easier for you.
statistically speaking, she will probably have another cardio event at some point in her life - now she is also at risk for strokes
ReplyDeleteif she wants to live a long time, she will have to make managing her chronic disease a priority in her life
ya, the view from the chest hospital is nice....she should be having check ups there monthly or every 3 months
It appears that you guys seem to live in a different country. I hope she has a successful surgery. Inshalleh.
ReplyDeleteThanks Possumdawg and American Girl.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 10:04 - thanks for the TOTALLY PHUCKING DISMAL COMMENT and for ADDING TO MY WORRIES. I want to use lot of expletives here, but I won't. I'll leave the advice to the doctors.
Anonymous 10:44 - ??? huh. Don't get it.
D.G. I have been in Cardio Rehab for about 8 months( 3 paid by insurance and 5 by me) and I feel better than I did when I was in my 20's. I lost 40 pounds and I now run 9 miles a week. Before I was unable to walk more than 1/4 mile. Your BFF can put years back on her life and the human body can do amazing things. Stress was my issue and still is.I need a job and your BFF needs to stop smoking. I pray we both will be successful.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 10:04 AM You need a personality transplant. How insensitive can you get?
ReplyDeleteDG ~ Sending you lots of love in this difficult time. She is going to get better and live a long healthy life with friends like you by her side. Wishing you and the Romanian the very best!
How's your BFF doing DG? I am hopeful you will provide an update soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Possumdawg - She went home 24 hours after the angioplasty. she's tired but doing so much better. She looks great and has her color back... and thank God, has stopped smoking (fingers crossed that it will last). Thank you for asking. :)
ReplyDeleteDG-Thank you for all the entertainment you provide me. I know what your BFF is going through and believe me, her life will be much improved now. Fear was a concern of mine but that's normal.
ReplyDeleteHope things improve for her soon.
