United Cancels Flight Night Before Thanksgiving

That's gotta suck. I am soooooo glad that I didn't decide to get on a plane last minute and go to DC. They didn't fly until 1:30 the next day (Thanksgiving). There goes turkey dinner for how many hundreds of people trying to get home from Kuwait and Iraq? Fumble, United.

Qatar Airways is offering flights at almost half the price of United right now. I'm checking them out for Christmas. Only one stop in Doha and then direct to DC.

  2. Qatar Airways is always better than United. At least on Qatar Airways you ride in comfort even in coach and get all the alcohol u can drink.

  3. Did you see the story in today's Kuwait Times, that the flight was diverted to London and that's why it was late? "A breast-feeding mother accidentally smothered her four-week old child aboard a United Airlines flight from Washington, DC, to Kuwait, a British tabloid reported Tuesday. The Sun newspaper said that the mother, who it said was a 29-year-old Egyptian-born woman, fell asleep as she breast-fed on the jet and awoke to find that the child had been smothered. The paper said the plane was diverted to London's Heathrow in an attempt to save the baby's life." I don't know whether this makes the delay better or worse! That poor mother -- that poor baby!

Believe it or not, that was the re-schedule of the flight from the night before! One of my friends was on it (and they didn't know why they were diverted to London, but it was another nightmare with people missing connections, etc.)

So, the flight was cancelled on the 26th (TG). United put people on a flight leaving on the 27th, then it was diverted to London.

I feel bad for the mother, but where the hell was her husband? She must have been exhausted with a 4 week old baby. Wasn't anyone helping her? Why didn't her travelling companion (and there should have been one if there wasn't) notice?
