Quick Restaurant Note

I discovered a new place last night. I had been to their indoor restaurant before, but last night, I discovered their outdoor seating and it is very cool. The restaurant is Madrigal (2448000) in Shaab. The seating is in little tents for groups. Each tent has its own air conditioning, TV, and living-room type seats. Unfortunately, our tent was kind of hot because the AC wasn't working very well. The restaurant has a varied menu (with pictures - yeah!) with Arabic, Indian, Thai, and Chinese cuisine at very reasonable prices. They also do delivery. It was cool to see so many upscale Kuwaiti women hanging out in the tents, smoking sheesha (probably for privacy) with friends. You go, girls! :)

  2. At least it wasnt bdoon/bedoun gal. I got lost and ended up near Shaab a few nights ago coming from Salmiya to Mahboula (wrong turn = long drive for someone not familiar). Sounds like an interesting place. Might try it out with some friends on a nice night when the weather is good. How much is the food there? I like having everyone know about how much they are spending so they won't freak out if their food is like 8KD or something.

  4. Sounds like fun, will check it out. Have you been to Jungle Cafe just past Marina Mall? No tents but lots of outdoor seating and I was really surprised by the number of girls smoking sheesha. Single and in groups!

BTW... you've been tagged babe ;-)

  6. Kazmawi - I don't read Arabic.

Can somebody translate for me? I'm an illiterate foreigner.

Mello - give them a call for directions. Nice to hear from you and thanks for stopping by!

  7. Mello - I use the Kuwait Pocket Guide for everything here. You can pick one up at any bookstore and most of the hotels in Kuwait. A good bookstore is located in the basement level of Muthanna mall (across the street from the JW Marriott). They've got it.

  8. Jashanmal, I don't like to smoke it myself - not because I think it is unfeminine or anything - but because I have athesma. Actually, what possibly could be sexier than seeing a pretty woman sucking on a long hose in the middle of a restaurant usually with a smile on her face? Hey - men here do it all the time. The Kuwaiti women I know who smoke sheesha do it because they enjoy it. None of the women I know who do consider it a statement.

What really bothers me in other countries is seeing women drink beer from bottles. To me, that is unfeminine and unclassy. Guess everybody has their own thang.
