Yo, Stupid!

So, I met a man a while back on a blind date. We talked on the phone for a while and then decided to meet to have coffee. We hit it off and there was some chemistry. We talked for a while... I got my flirt on. During our 3 hours of conversation, he told me about a friend of his at work who told him that he shouldn't meet me - that all American women in Kuwait are really fat. Oooooooooh tay. Blinddateman was happy when he met me, and said that he would report the truth to his colleague the following day. Everything fine so far.

Then, Blinddateman called and asked me to dinner the following Thursday and I should decide on a restaurant. So far, so good.

He called back the next day and said, "You don't mind if I bring my friend, do you? He is dying to see what you look like." FUMBLE!!!!

I told him to have a great time on his romantic date with his friend.

What makes people so stupid?

  5. Purgatory - thanks for the advice, buddy. The kind of guy I'm looking for doesn't exist anywhere.

Stinni - I didn't mean to insult my family. Just a funny.

  8. I think regardless of where you are - finding the right person is always the luck of the draw. It is easy to meet just anybody; it is harder to meet somebody special.

  10. My take on men here is that those who wanted to marry foreign women did so while studying abroad at university. The rest will never marry out of their nationality/tribe. Maybe second or third wife yes, not the first/only. You're better off meeting a charming Kuwaiti prince charming in the States or Europe.

I know some foreign women here who are here because they love the men. For years they talk about this guy and that marrying them but it never pans out. I think what people are trying to say is that if you're looking for marriage, this might not be the best place for you because let's face it, Kuwaiti men don't have a great reputation in that area. When you believe you can marry four women and love them equally, do you really even understand the concept of monogamy?

I also have to say that my husband hasn't changed since moving back to Kuwait. I don't buy into the stories of men just changing overnight. The signs are always there, but women choose not to see them.

  11. You should have planned the date and then stood them both up, or you could have chosen a very expensive restaurant, invited a bunch of friends and ordered all that’s on the menu and left him with the bill!

  12. "he is dying to see what you look like."

What the hell is wrong with this guy?!

And i would love an answer to the question you asked:

    'what makes people so stupid?'

    *sigh*

  13. Jashanmal - thank you for your ... um... er... insightfulness. I have a lot of good Bedouin friends actually. Can't say that we have ever done any of the things in quite the ways that you've described. The Bedouin people I've known have always been loyal and hospitable and we've slaughtered quite a few pizzas together. Good enough?
